I also write responses when i’m drunk and not paying attention so if i say its in the wrong tuning, if i say a way to play it and its wrong, if i cant even remember how to spell chop suuey its because im not paying enough attention to what im doing and if you know the correct answer then let the person know cause I probably wont correct myself cause im lazy and forget. I’ve played this song live probably over 30 times and heres some hints and tips I have for cover bands if your interested. The most important part of playing this song live to replicate the power of the song, particularly the chorus’s and the outro, is you need vocal harmonies. You can hear both Serj and Daron singing great harmonies, especially on the outro when Daron is practically louder then Serj and singing the higher notes. As I’m basing this on that your playing the song with only one guitar, you can not play all the guitars …

Little Kids Rock provides free musical instruments and instruction for public school students who have been left behind due to budget cuts. We do this through the gracious support of our donors, as well as our Honorary Board Members, including Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, BB King and a host of other celebrated friends in the music industry. Instructors involved in the program use the unique Little Kids Rock methodology to teach students to play musical instruments. The program focuses on popular music styles that most students already listen to, including rock, blues, rap and hip-hop. Heavy emphasis is put on composition, improvisation and recording. Kids regularly get to record their own music, create CDs even make their own rock videos. One of the things that makes Little Kids Rock so successful is that after training teachers, the program can be up and running quickly and at no cost to the school. We build on the expertise and skills of music teachers and give schools the flexibility to offer classes within the core curriculum or as after-school enrichment. Because all instruments are donated free of cost, all kids have the chance to learn, play and rock out!

Chord inversions (kind of like scale modes, same principle!) are very useful in all styles of music, but this can really help you with your heavy riffing if you’re into the extreme stuff like death metal, black metal, thrash metal, etc. Power chord inversions can make your 6 string guitar come off as a 7 string guitar. Scales modes, arpeggio inversions, and chord inversions – all intervals, but this lesson concentrates on power chord inversions specifically. Breaking outside of the simple and everyday run of the mill chords will give you MANY more options and paths to take on the fretboard when fretting. Chord inversions also have a unique sound compared to normal chords, though you usually can’t tell unless you’re listening for it. t’s sort of lke drop D, but not really. If you work on your downpicking and apply chord inversions, heavy riffs await you!
