Hey, in this video I am going to show you how to play a bit of Jazz. I apologise sincerely for accidently having my piano transposed. I didn’t know it was in the wrong key untill after I recorded the video. I hope the video is still helpful in some way. Ben

Little Kids Rock provides free musical instruments and instruction for public school students who have been left behind due to budget cuts. We do this through the gracious support of our donors, as well as our Honorary Board Members, including Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, BB King and a host of other celebrated friends in the music industry. Instructors involved in the program use the unique Little Kids Rock methodology to teach students to play musical instruments. The program focuses on popular music styles that most students already listen to, including rock, blues, rap and hip-hop. Heavy emphasis is put on composition, improvisation and recording. Kids regularly get to record their own music, create CDs even make their own rock videos. One of the things that makes Little Kids Rock so successful is that after training teachers, the program can be up and running quickly and at no cost to the school. We build on the expertise and skills of music teachers and give schools the flexibility to offer classes within the core curriculum or as after-school enrichment. Because all instruments are donated free of cost, all kids have the chance to learn, play and rock out!

Hey, I’m sure many of you have heard of David Sprunger. He is an online blues piano teacher and owns his own site with some great blues riffs on it. Check it out: www.playpianotoday.com At the beginning of his videos there is always a piano intro and in this intro is this set of riffs. I have “sort of” worked it out and here is my rendition of the riffs in that intro. *Edit* Sorry for the poor camera angle and nervous speaking; I wasn’t very experienced back then! A few years ago I made a video called learn piano in 3 minutes on a whim, and now it has over 130000 views and gets over 300 views every day. So because of that, I decided to make a lot videos. The idea here isnt to take someone from moderate to expert, but to take someone from beginner to moderate. I try to keep things as simple as possible, starting at the very beginning. It doesnt matter how inexperienced you are, the idea is Im trying to keep it so easy that even a novice student who has never seen a grand piano before will learn something. By the way, I know what you’re thinking! Piano is for lamos, why would I want to learn piano? Guitar is where it’s at! The only people who play piano are old fogies who are dead like Beethoven, Bach, and other crappy old composers. But there are actually tons of cool bands that play piano! Here are just a few: John Mayer, Coldplay, Elton John, The Fray, Aliscia Keys, The Beatles, The Fray, Gavin Degraw, Radiohead, Muse and Eminem!

Exactly what it says in the title. The song by Freezepop has caught my ear in the past 2 days so I thought I’d learn it and teach some of you guys who can’t pick it up by ear. Similar to my “How to play Mad World” video in terms of being thorough, and this time I talk you through it. I know I miss out one little part (it’s only 6 notes long or so) but this is a great video for learning the song.
